Westbound
A serious, progression-based roleplay server for RedM. Set in the late 1800s American frontier, where the territory grows as its people push it forward. Alpha testing is live.
What is Westbound RP?
Westbound RP is a serious roleplay server for RedM, the Red Dead Redemption 2 roleplay platform. It is set in the late 1800s American frontier, a time of railroads pushing west, young towns finding their feet, and law that ends where the wilderness begins.
Here you don't just play, you live a character. Every job, friendship, debt and gunfight is part of a persistent world that carries on with or without you. Ride in as a lawman, an outlaw, a rancher or a drifter, and the territory becomes yours to leave a mark on.
Alpha testing is now underway. We are building a progression-based world where the territory itself opens up as the community earns it. Not your character's level bar. The world moves forward.
"A character's choices leave traces; the town remembers; the West is indifferent and dangerous and worth surviving."
Built From Scratch
Westbound doesn't run on a public template. Every system is written in-house, from the economy and law to survival, jobs and world progression. Nothing is borrowed, nothing is bolted on. Each piece is built to make the frontier feel like a real place with real weight.
Your character does not level up.
The world moves forward.
Westbound is a progression-based world. The territory opens as the community earns it, through trade, law and collective work. Roads become passable. Towns take shape. New regions unlock. Not because a timer ran out, but because the people made it happen.
How the West Works
The systems behind Westbound are built around one idea: the frontier should feel like a place, not a game.
Your Name Means Something
Standing is earned and sticky. Who you wrong, who you protect, what debts you carry. It follows you. The territory has a long memory, and a longer reach.
The Dollar is Earned
Money is scarce, loseable, and worth a story. Cash on your person can be robbed. A slow frontier economy means every dollar has weight. Every big purchase was a decision.
The Territory Remembers
Choices leave traces: records, debts, property, reputation. The world carries on whether you are riding or not. Your character's past travels ahead of them into every town.
Authority is Real
A sheriff's office, a circuit court, a land office, a bank. Not set pieces — institutions with records, jurisdiction, and teeth. They make life on the frontier difficult in exactly the right ways.
The Frontier
Every life finds a place out west. Choose your path, or let the territory choose it for you.
Lawmen
Marshals and deputies holding a fragile order across the territory.
Outlaws
Robbers, rustlers and guns for hire, always one step ahead of the noose.
Ranchers
Cattle owners and ranch hands working the open range from dawn to dusk.
Traders
Merchants and freighters moving goods along long, dangerous roads.
Hunters
Trackers and trappers who live off the land and the wild that comes with it.
Doctors
Surgeons and apothecaries, often the only thing between a patient and the grave.
Business Owners
Saloon keepers, smiths and shopkeeps building the towns of tomorrow.
Gamblers
Card players, hustlers and confidence men working the saloons and river towns.
Who Do You Want to Be?
The frontier doesn't ask who you used to be. Whatever life you want to carve out, lawman, drifter, preacher, merchant, or something the territory has never seen. It's yours to write.
Development Roadmap
The trail ahead. We're building deliberately, putting the quality of the world before the rush to open the gates.
In Development
The custom framework, core systems and the world itself are being built from the ground up.
Alpha Testing
A small, trusted group helps us stress test the core systems and the frontier itself.
Beta Testing
Wider testing, with roleplay systems, balance and stability refined ahead of launch.
Public Launch
Whitelist applications open and the territory becomes yours to write your story upon.
Always Growing
Launch is the beginning, not the end. New systems, stories and content keep on arriving.

Questions
Is the server open yet? +
Alpha is live, but spots are by selection. To apply for Alpha, join the Discord and head to the #become-a-tester channel. For Beta, create an account and submit a whitelist application. Applications will be reviewed when Beta launches.
Are applications open? +
Yes and no. You can create an account and submit a whitelist application now. Applications won't be reviewed until Beta launches, and we'll send out information when that starts. For Alpha testing right now, join the Discord and ask in the #become-a-tester channel.
Is it whitelisted? +
Yes. Westbound is whitelist only. We'd rather have a smaller community that takes roleplay seriously than a crowded server where nobody stays in character.
How do I become a tester? +
Join the Discord and head to the #become-a-tester channel. That's the path for Alpha. For Beta, create an account and submit a whitelist application. We'll reach out when reviews begin.
What is world progression? +
On Westbound, the world itself opens up as the community earns it. Not your character's XP bar. Complete supply chains, establish trade routes, hold law in a settlement, and the territory responds. Roads become safer. Towns grow. New regions unlock. The map is not fixed; it grows with the people who build it.
Do I need Red Dead Redemption 2 to play? +
Yes. RedM runs on top of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, so you'll need the game and RedM installed. We'll post a simple setup guide before testing begins.
Does it cost anything? +
No, Westbound is free to join. If we ever offer cosmetic extras to help cover server costs, nothing that affects roleplay or gives an unfair advantage will sit behind a paywall.
What makes Westbound different? +
Two things. The framework is built entirely from scratch, so we're not boxed in by someone else's code, and we treat this as a serious RP world first and a game second. The setting, the systems and the rules all point the same way: stories worth remembering.
